Daniela Hantuchova turned professional in 1999. Hantuchova, a Slovak tennis player got her first breakthrough when she won her first Tier 1 tournament in 2002. She also ended the year in the top ten rankings. Born in Poprad, Czechoslovakia, Hantuchova can speak in six languages and is a trained pianist. She is seen as a perfectionist by many people and she puts a lot of pressure on herself during training. Along with tennis, she also does modeling occasionally. She appeared in the 2009 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition alongside Maria Kirilenko and Tatiana Golovin.

Hantuchova has won three WTA singles tournaments. Her first WTA single title was in 2002 when she defeated Martina Hingis 6-4, 6-4 at the Tier 1 Pacific Life Open. In 2007, she defeated Svetlana Kuznetsova 6-3, 6-4 in the same tournament. Her latest tournament win came at the Generali Ladies Linz in Austria. Her Grandslam achievements include a semi-final appearance at the 2008 Australian Open. She lost in the quarter finals of Wimbledon and US Open in 2002 and lost in the 4th Round at the French Open in 2002 and 2006. She currently boasts a tennis career record of 354-220 in singles and 195-138 in doubles. Hantuchova achieved her best WTA ranking in 2002 where she is ranked at No. 5 in the world.

In the first round, she beat Lourdes Dominguez Lino 6-3, 7-6 (8-6). Hantuchova defeated Kaia Kanepi 6-1, 6-3 in the second round. In the quarterfinals, she defeated Vania King 2-6, 6-2, 6-1. She reached the final defeating Dominika Cibulkova 4-6, 6-3, 6-0. Daniela Hantuchova lost to Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6-1, 1-6, 0-6 in the final of Monterrey Open 2010 Women's Singles.
