Andy Murray is a professional tennis player from Scotland. He is currently ranked World No. 4 and is the highest-ranked British player since Fred Perry. Murray reached a career-high ranking of World No. 2 on August 17, 2009 and remained in that position for two weeks till August 31, 2009. He entered into the top 10 in ATP rankings for the first time on April 16, 2007.

Andy Murray is a runner-up at the 2008 US Open where he lost to Roger Federer. He reached the semifinal of Wimbledon 2009 where he lost to American Andy Roddick. At French Open, he is a quarterfinalist in 2009 and he reached the fourth round of Australian Open twice in 2007 and 2009.

Murray won the BBC Scotland Sports Personality of the Year Award and the sport section of the Top Scot awards. He began playing tennis at age of three. His mother, Judy, is a former Scottish national coach and father, William is a Retail Area Manager. His brother Jamie Murry also plays tennis on the ATP World Tour. His favorite movie is 'The Girl Next Door' and favorite musician is 50 Cent. As a junior, Andy Murray won the US Open Juniors title.

Andy Murray began the 2013 season at the Brisbane International 2013 where he was the defending champion. He successfully defended the title defeating Grigor Dimitrov in the final. Murray next played at the Australian Open 2013 where he lost to Novak Djokovic in the final.




Andy Murray was seeded No. 3 in the AEGON Championships 2010, an ATP World Tour 250 grass court event. Murray received a bye in the first round and defeated Ivan Navarro in the second round before losing to Mardy Fish in the third round.

Wimbledon 2010
A semifinalist at Wimbledon last year, Murray was seeded No. 4 in the tournament. He defeated Jan Hajek 7-5, 6-1, 6-2 in the first round. He beat Jarkko Nieminen of Finland, Gilles Simon and Sam Querrey to reach the quarterfinals where he will play No. 10 seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France.
