Yanina Wickmayer enters US Open 2009 semifinal defeating Kateryna Bondarenko

19 year-old Belgian Yanina Wickmayer defeated Kateryna Bondarenko to enter the semifinals of the US Open 2009. Wickmayer defeated Kateryna Bondarenko 7-5, 6-4 in 1 hour and 41 minutes to make it to her first Grand Slam semifinal. She will face the winner of the other quarterfinal match later today between Caroline Wozniacki and Melanie Oudin.

Wickmayer took the first set 7-5, but was in trouble early in the second as she was down at 4-1 at one point. Wickmayer then rallied to win the next 5 games to win the match 7-5, 6-4 against Kateryna Bondarenko.
