Andy Roddick has been upset by fellow American
John Isner in the Third Round of 2009 US Open 2009. 55th ranked John Isner beat the 2003 US Open champion 7-6 (3), 6-3, 3-6, 5-7, 7-6 (5) to advance to the fourth round of the tournament. Isner has served 38 aces in a thrilling match that lasted 3 hours and 51 minutes. In the final set tie-breaker Isner moved quickly to 5-3, but Roddick served two consecutive aces to make it 6-5 and Isner won the match on his serve.

Andy Roddick beat Bjorn Phau and Marc Gicuqel in the tournament so far without dropping a set. He is currently ranked No. 5 in the world. Roddick is a one time Grand Slam winner, winning the US Open in 2003. He is the finalist at 2009 Wimbledon losing to Roger Federer in a 5 set thriller which went to 16-14 in the final set. World No. 55 John Isner has made it to the third round of US Open in 2007 and 2009. He lost in the first round at 2009 Australian Open.
